Jack is a roller derby referee who is an integral part of the Honey Island Rollers (HIR). He is known on the track by his derby name “Jack” and wears the number 10 on his jersey. As a Maltese Italian, Jack brings a unique perspective to the sport of roller derby.
Jack has been involved in roller derby since the founding of HIR in September 2020. Prior to that, he was always into sports, having played baseball, softball, football, and rugby 7s. His experience in team sports has helped him become a skilled skating official, and he is highly respected by both players and fellow officials.
When he’s not on the track, Jack enjoys eating pizza – his favourite food, and working for trans rights. However, he found a new passion in the roller derby community. He loves the good vibes, inclusive atmosphere, and the positive impact roller derby has on people’s lives.
As a referee, Jack’s role is vital to the success of the Honey Island Rollers. He makes sure that the game is played fairly and that all rules are followed. He also provides valuable feedback to players to help them improve their skills and strategies.
Jack has also been part of HIR’s foundation in his role as Secretary General. For Jack, being a part of the HIR community is not just about the sport but also about the connections he has made with his fellow skaters and officials. He believes that roller derby has the power to bring people together and create a supportive and inclusive environment.
Jack is a dedicated and passionate member of the Honey Island Rollers community. His love for the sport and his commitment to fair play and inclusivity make him an essential part of the team. We are grateful for his contributions to the roller derby community and can’t wait to see him continue to thrive as a skating official.
